FCPS training rules 2021
Candidates who have passed FCPS Part-I examination in between January 2005 session to July 2019 session will require:-
a) 3 years training in the respective subject
b) 1 year academic course
Or
4 years training in the respective subject
Medicine Training
Medicine training with academic course
i. 3 years training in Medicine
Or
(2 + 1/2) years training in Medicine & six months training in any one of the following sub-specialities:
- Cardiology,
- Nephrology,
- Gastroenterology,
- Neuro-Medicine,
- Hepatology,
- Endocrinology & Metabolism,
- Pulmonology,
- Rheumatology,
- Haematology,
- Critical Care Medicine (BIRDEM Hospital) and
- Medical Oncology (NICRH)
Or
2 years training in Medicine and 1 year training in any of the two of the sub-specialities (six months in each) as mentioned in clause ★★★i.
Or
1 and a 1/2 years training in Medicine and one and a half years training in any of the three sub-specialities (six months in each) as mentioned in clause i.
(ii) 1 year academic course.
Medicine training without academic course
i. 4 years training in Medicine Or 3 & a 1/2 years training in Medicine and 6 months training in any of the sub-specialities
Or
3 years training in Medicine and 1 year training in any two of the sub-specialities (6 month in each) as mentioned in clause i.
Or
2 and a 1/2 years training in Medicine and one and a half years training in any three of the sub-specialities (6 months in each) as mentioned in clause i.
Or
2 years training in Medicine and 2 years training in any four of the sub-specialities (6 months in each) as mentioned in clause i.
Surgery training format
Surgery training with academic course
i. 3 years training in Surgery
Or
2 and a 1/2 years training in Surgery and 6 months training in Orthopaedic Surgery/ Traumatology (Casualty training of DMCH & SSMCH)
or
6 months training in any of the following sub- specialities: (1) Orthopaedic Surgery, (2) Traumatology (Casualty training in DMC, SSMC and CMC, (3) Urology, (4) Neuro-surgery, (5) Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, (6) Paediatric Surgery, (7) Cardio-Vascular Surgery, (8) Thoracic Surgery and (9) Colorectal Surgery.
Or
2 years training in Surgery and 1 year training in any two of the sub-specialties (06 months in each) as mentioned in clause i.
ii. One year academic Course
Surgery training without academic course
i. 4 years training in Surgery
Or
3 and a 1/2 years training in Surgery and 6 months training in Orthopaedic Surgery/ Traumatology (Casualty training of DMCH and SSMCH)
or
6 months training in any of the sub-specialities as mentioned in clause i.
Or
3 years training in Surgery, 6 months training in Orthopaedic Surgery/Traumatology (Casualty training of DMCH and SSMCH) and remaining 6 months training in any of the sub-specialities as mentioned in clause i.
Or
2 and a 1/2 years training in Surgery, 6 months training in Orthopaedic Surgery/Traumatology and remaining one year training in any two of the sub-specialites (06 months in each) as mentioned in clause i.
Gynae and Obs training format
Obstetrics and Gynaecology training with academic course
i. Three years training in Obst. & Gynae
Or
2 and a 1/2 years training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and 06 months training in any one of the following sub-specialities: (1) Feto-Maternal Medicine, (2) Gynaecological Oncology and (3) Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (ii) one year academic course
Obs & Gynae training without academic course
i. 4 years training in Obst. & Gynae
Or
3 and a 1/2 years training in Obst. & Gynae and 06 months training in any one of the sub-specialities as mentioned in clause i.
Paediatrics Training rules
Paediatrics training with academic course
i. 3 years training in Paediatrics
Or
2 and a 1/2 years training in Paediatrics and 06 months training in any one of the following subspecialties subject:
- Neonatology,
- Paediatric Haematology and Oncology
- Paediatric Nephrology
- Paediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition
- Paediatric Pulmonology,
- Paediatric Neurology & Development and
- Paediatric Cardiology.
Or
2 years training in Paediatrics and one year training in any of the two sub-specialities (06 months in each) as mentioned in clause i.
(ii) 1 year academic Course
Paediatrics training without academic course
i. 4 years training in Paediatrics
Or
3 and a 1/2 years training in Paediatrics and 06 months training in any one of the sub-specialities as mentioned in clause i.
Or
3 years training in Paediatrics and 1 year training in any two of the sub-specialities (06 months in each) as mentioned in clause i.
Others Subject training rules
Training with academic course
i. 3 years training in respective subject
ii. 1 year academic course
Or
i. 4 years training in respective subject Exceptions:
- In case of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation : i. Four years training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Or Three & half years training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Six months training in Medicine/Surgery/Orthopaedic Surgery/Neurology/Neuro Surgery/ Obstetrics and Gynaecology/Paediatrics
- In case of Dermatology and Venereology : i. 1 year training in Medicine ii. 3 years training in Dermatology & Venereology
- In case of Anaesthesiology :i. 4 years training in Anaesthesiology
- In case of Haematology : i. 1 year training in Medicine and ii. 3 years training in Haematology
Diploma passed FCPS candidates who undergone 2 years in-house training under BSMMU (Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University) will get one year training exemption in the respective general subjects for appearing in fellowship examination of BCPS
