Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) about Residency Exam

1) If you want to get admitted into MD (Anaesthesiology) course
your faculty will be surgery, even though the degree is tittled MD not
MS.

2)The Phase A admission question will be same as MS (General
Surgery) or other subjects in faculty of surgery including MS (Obs & Gyne). Again, Pediatrics & Medicine are of same faculty (Medicine)
& admission question paper is same.

1. Question: Which documents a candidate should have during submission of her/his application? Answer: Following documents are required to provide correct information, 

  1. Permanent and updated BMDC Registration (valid on or after 31 August 2023). 
  2. National Identification Card (NID). 
  3. Internship Certificate.
  4. Job Related Documents.  

2. Question: Which items a Candidate have to scan and upload along with the application? 

Answer: A Candidate should scan images of –

  • Her/his passport size color Photograph (image size : 500×500 px, not older than three months & background must be of one color preferably white where face should be very clearly seen) 
  • Signature (image size : 300×200 px) and 
  • Bank Deposit Receipt (image size : 500×500 px) 

3. Question: Which information from Bank Deposit Receipt is to be mentioned? 

Answer:

  1. Bank Scroll number 
  2. Serial number 
  3. Date of Money deposit 
  4. Name of the Branch 

4. Question: When a candidate can get her/his Admit Card? 

Answer: Candidates can print Admit Card using his/her password & application number after date, time, venue of Admission Test and admit card printing dates are announced in BSMMU Website : www.bsmmu.edu.bd. 

5. Question: Is there any age limit for applying? 

Answer: Yes, 45-year age as on 28 February 2023 (last day of application submission through online) 

6. Question: Is completion of internship mandatory? 

Answer: Yes, must complete one year internship.

7. Question: Is any period is necessary after internship? 

Answer: 

Yes, one year after completion of internship on or before 28 February 2023 (last day of application submission through online), is mandatory. 

8. Question: Is provisional registration number of BMDC is acceptable? 

Answer: No, candidate must have permanent registration number of BMDC, validity on or after 31 August 2023. 

9. Question: How many years, a government candidate, need to serve before applying for admission into Post-graduate course? 

Answer: At least 2 years of service for all courses except in the following cases: 

i. Applicants intend to apply for the following courses do not require any work experience at any level: 

a. All disciplines under Faculty of Basic Science and Para Clinical Science. 

b. MD Residency Program in Anesthesiology and MS Residency Program in Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery under Faculty of Surgery. 

ii. Candidates with one year work experience in remote area (as per Govt. Deputation Rules) can apply for any discipline. 

10. Question: How many years, a BSMMU candidate, need to serve before applying for residency admission into Post-graduate course? 

Answer: At least 2 years of regular service in BSMMU for all courses except in the following cases: Applicants intend to apply for the following courses do not require any work experience at any level: 

a. All disciplines under Faculty of Basic Science and Para Clinical Science. 

b. MD Residency Program in Anesthesiology and MS Residency Program in Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery under Faculty of Surgery. 

11. Question: How many years of government service are required after last deputation? 

Answer: Candidate must know the Govt. Deputation Rules. 

12. Question: Is a candidate eligible for form fill-up after willingly leave course/course out/cancellation of deputation/failed in any previous course? 

Answer: Deputation Rules will be followed for Govt. candidates. BSMMU candidates will become eligible to apply in any course after 2  years of willingly withdrawal or could not pass in any previous course or course out from the course. In that case, the BSMMU candidate will have to compete in General Quota. In case of private candidates, one year is required after willingly withdrawal/could not pass in any previous course/course out from the course. 

13. Question : Can a candidate choose more than one discipline? Answer:  

No, candidate has to choose one discipline only. After final submission, no change of discipline will be allowed. A candidate will be allowed to apply only once in a session. 

14. Question: Can a candidate choose more than one institute? Answer: Yes, candidate can choose maximum of Seven institutes if options of institutes are available for that particular discipline). 

15. Question: How many years required for a Govt./BSMMU candidate to give service in respective specialty after obtaining any postgraduate degree? Answer: Govt./BSMMU candidates must have (03) three years active service in the respective field after obtaining any postgraduate degree. 

16. Question: Can the information provided in the application form be modified? 

Answer: Candidate can modify their application as long as she/he not pressed the ‘Final Submit’ button. Once the ‘Final Submit’ button has been pressed, candidate is no longer allowed to modify. 

17. About any fake or wrong information If any candidate provide any fake or wrong information during online form fill-up or in any stage of admission process, his/her selection/admission will be cancelled and he/she will be subjected to legal proceedings as per procedures of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University(BSMMU).
