Dr Nurunnabi (Laizu) was infected with Covid-19, was went to Dhaka by air-ambulance.

AKM Nurunnobi (Laizu), principal of Rangpur Medical College (RpMC), who was infected with the deadly coronavirus disease, was airlifted to Dhaka by a government initiative.

He was airlifted to Dhaka in a Bangladesh Air Force MI-171SH helicopter on last Saturday October 10th,  the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. He is currently undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka. 

According to the ISPR, the Bangladesh Air Force has always provided emergency assistance in response to any national crisis as per the policy published by the government. The Bangladesh Air Force has continued to provide emergency transport and medical evacuation services with professionalism, ensuring the commitment of the Armed Forces to assist the civilian administration in preventing coronavirus under NA2 Civil Power. As a part of this, Romek principal has been brought to Dhaka.

In this regard, Ramek vice-president Mahfuzar Rahman told the media that principal Nurunnobi (laizu) had been suffering from fever, shortness of breath, headache and body aches for the last seven days. A coronavirus was found in his body on Saturday morning. At this time his CT scan was also done. He was also suffering from various diseases including back pain, diabetes mellitus and high blood pressure. He was shifted to Dhaka due to recovery his respiratory problems.

He added that the helicopter carrying him landed in Rangpur Cantonment area at 3.20 pm. Earlier, Principal Nurunnobi (Lizu) was taken to the cantonment area from Rangpur medical College  and Hospital by ambulance. The helicopter left for Dhaka at 3.30 pm.

Incidentally, Professor. AKM Nurunnobi (Laizu) is the coordinator of the Coronavirus Sample Testing Lab Management Committee set up at Rangpur Medical College. He has also been the head of Departmaent,Dermatology  and venerology ( the skin and sex department) at  Rangpur medical  College  and  hospital (RpMCH). He also used to see patients in the ward of Rangpur Medical College Hospital regularly.
