Carpal Tunnel Syndrome  

If regular hand work causes pressure on the wrists or fingers, you may have a carpal tunnel syndrome. This disease causes pain in the wrist and numbness or numbness in the fingers.

Care must be taken not to increase it. However, the hope is that if some instructions are followed, the symptoms will go away.

Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs due to pressure on the median nerve. This nerve gives you a feeling of numbness and pain in all the fingers except your thumb/old finger.

When the middle nerve crosses our wrist, it goes through a narrow path. The carpal tunnel is made of  curpal bones and ligaments that contain median nerve . If the wrist is swollen for any reason, this tunnel is compressed and symptoms appear.

There is no exact way to prevent carpal tunnel syndrome. But if you can reduce the pressure on your hands and wrists, you can control these symptoms.

Try to touch lightly

Often in our daily routine we get used to doing things that we never think about. A lot of times we use more energy than we need to get a job done.

For example- you hold some of your equipment very tightly but you have to hold it lightly. Again, you may be pressing your computer keyboard too hard, it should be pressed gently.

Take a break

Take occasional breaks when working on your hands and wrists. The ideal break time is 10 to 15 minutes. Taking a break is most important when you do things where your hands are shaking and you have to expend a lot of energy.

Extend the hand a little at a time

At any time of the day when you take a break try to follow these general rules-

First make a fist then spread your fingers outwards until they are completely straight. Do this 5 to 10 times.

Or make a fist and then spread your fingers outwards as much as possible. Do this 5 to 10 times.

Keep the hand or wrist neutral

When you keep your wrist in a straight and neutral position, it will reduce the pressure on the median nerve.

Wear a brace on the wrist while sleeping which will help keep your hands straight and neutral. This brace will also help reduce your symptoms

Change hands a little at a time

Try to avoid using the same hand over and over again. For example, if you do something with your right hand, try to do it with your left hand. Use both hands as much as possible in your work.

Keep the body layout right

It is normal to focus on the hands and wrists. However, how the rest of your body is doing can also have an effect.

When we do not sit in the right position, our shoulders lean forward. This causes our neck and shoulder muscles to contract, increasing the problems of the wrist and neck nerves. So keep the body layout correct.

Stay warm

The pain worsens when you are cold. Gloves can then help keep your hands and wrists warm.


Talk to your supervisor about carpal tunnel syndrome  


If your work exacerbates your symptoms, tell your manager to change workplaces. If your symptoms persist, talk to the manager and change the tools, starting with the setup of your workstation.


You will be able to do the same thing as your colleagues if you can refrain from doing the same thing over and over again.


What you can do if you work on a computer-


Adjust the position of your keyboard so that your wrist does not bend when you type.

Keep your elbows with you as you type.

Show a professional therapist


If the condition does not improve, you can seek the help of a professional therapist.


That will show you exercises that will help you stretch and strengthen your arm and wrist muscles.

She will help you create routines that will help reduce stress on your hands and muscles.
